SYNOPSIS

My Constant Shadow is a moving drama which revolves around four main characters.

Michael is an ageing man who has lived with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis for most of his adult life. He is not the most friendly of people and lives mostly in isolation in a cared facility. Various care assistants have tried to work with him but often leave. We join his story as a new care worker who will change everything enters his life.

Ruth is Michael’s new care worker. Married and with her first child on the way, she seems unfazed by Michael’s rudeness and sticks with him, seeing there is more to him than he seems willing to share. Circumstances in her own life soon take a hold and she finds an unlikely ally in Michael.

David is Ruth’s husband, a well meaning man but ignorant of the details around Multiple Sclerosis and his wife’s work. He tries to support Ruth, but when she receives unexpected news he struggles to cope.

Helen is Michael’s daughter. Finding it increasingly difficult to keep up with her weekly visits, the relationship between them has been slowly disintegrating for the last twenty years.
